What Causes Swelling In The Spleen And Liver?

My husband had typhoid before 3 weeks, doctors said he had swollen spleen and liver. He has completed taking all the recommended medicines but still he has very low appetite and tendency of vomiting. He often says he feels like vomiting. Can you please tell me the reason prescribe me medications to improve his low appetite and tendency to vomit frequently ?

Hello and welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Loss of appetite do persists for some days after typhoid infection.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend
-Taking tonic multivitamin forte ,1 tab after dinner daily for 15 days.(to be taken on physician's prescription)
-maintaining hydration by taking oral rehydration solutio. for 2-3 days
-eat food in small amounts ,more frequently like every 2-3 hours.
-include more of liquid/semi solid food easy for digestion like fruit juice,thick soups,coconut water.
-can have a tablet of domperidone in morning before breakfast for 3 days.
-avoid spicy and fried food items


Organs like spleen and liver usually increase in size in infectious diseases due to increased workload on body.It would gradually go back to normal size.
