What Causes Swelling In The Face And Jaw On The Right Side?
Hello, I was having lunch with a client today when out of nowhere the right side of my face at my jaw started swelling up pretty large. I have taken some advil and iced it quite a bit and most of the swelling has subsided. There wasn t much in the way of pain but I m curious if an allergic reaction could cause this or if it s most likely something else?
Swelling of one side of face while taking lunch with no other symptoms like pain is pointing towards blockage in the duct of salivary gland.. There can also be obstruction in the duct opening by any foreign body that might be pooling saliva into the gland.. If this would be the case then every time you eat the gland will start to swell up due to increase in saliva production while eating.. It is not appearing like allergy.. So in case if you get swelling again consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated. You can be advised rays to check for the obstruction and also the location where the obstruction is. If the obstruction is superficial he will remove it manually'. But if there is deep formation of salivary stone then it can be removed surgically..
Hope this information helps..
