Since there is swelling and pain on the right side of neck, in front of the ear the most probable cause looks to be an infective focus in the form of an infected lymph node or developing abscess. The lump in the back of neck can also be an abscess. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get an opinion of an ENT or General surgeon. Get the tests of blood to see for elevated white cell counts. Ultrasonography of the neck and FNAC if lymph node enlargement is there. Get a course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medication and get a bed rest. Further management as per the clinical findings and investigations. In rare cases you may need drainage of the abscess.
