My left leg is swelling - if I m on it all day- it balloon s up and the skin is very tight. Pain is from the swelling. It has been doing this for months and I do take a mild blood pressure med- it seemed to start after I started taking the above med.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.

Yes leg swelling may be caused by some anti-hypertensive medicines like amlodepin.
But this type of swelling is usually bilateral and not painful.

Unilateral leg swelling with pain requires immediate detailed evaluation.
In such case I may suggest-
- Detailed clinical examination.
- Blood tests
Complete blood count.
Liver Function Test.
Kidney function test.
Total Protein albumin.
Coagulation profile.
- Leg imaging to rule out Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clots) like Venous doppler.
- Need to rule out infection cellulitis.

Depending upon above evaluation appropriate diagnosis can be made and treatment can be planned.

Deep vein thrombosis and cellulitis requires immediate medical attention.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
