What Causes Swelling In Hands And Blood While Coughing In A COPD Patient?

my stepdad has copd recently got an unknown infection and his hand got swollen very badly, they put him on cefdinir and today he has felt fine but he just started coughing up blood, he says he feels no other odd effects, he takes a blood thinner(warfarin),amiodarone(may misspelled), and lisinopril, I don t know if one of those is Lasix but he takes that, and heart medication.

Thanks for your question on HCM. First and foremost stop warf (blood thinner) medicines. This may be the cause for blood in sputum. Other common cause is COPD itself and lung infection. So get done chest x ray for this. The swelling in hand may be due to cor pulmonale complication of COPD. Hypoprotienemia is another cause. Rarely upper limb cellulitis can cause swelling. Better to consult your doctor.
