Thanks for contacting HCM I am sorry to hear about your recent changes in medication related to leg swelling and hypertension. Your doctor initially had you on amlodipine for which causes swelling and edema of the feet. This swelling is a direct reaction from amlodipine and water pills will not reduce that swelling. Your doctor then stopped the amlodipine and the swelling should have improved. But then you started on nebivolol and that caused headache and then that was stopped. You are now on Torsemide which is a water pill or diuretic and will make you urinate frequently. This is the function of torsemide. Your main concern then is there a safer alternative to toresemide for swelling of the feet. Other options non medical include reducing your consumption of sodium, reducing salt in your diet, elevating your legs as much as possible and wearing compression hose. Medical treatment would still be to add a different but less powerful water pill like hydrochlorothiazide.
