What Causes Swelling In Ear Cartilage And Itching Around Neck?

HI, I got an industrial piercing back in October and now my ear cartilage keeps swelling, painful on top of ear where the piercing is. Today some of the swelling went down but I felt itching around my neck and now noticed I have somewhat of a rash all round my neck, like tiny red bumps and my itches a little also. I'm worried but I don't want to take off the industrial bar with fear it might get worse. I've been told to use sea salt with some warm water and/or bactine liquid but I tried bactine but it swelled up again. what should I do?

Hi,

What you are experiencing is related to infected piercing site. I highly suggest to get checked by a physician as you need to start immediate treatment with:

- oral antibiotics
- local drainage (if needed) and cleaning

The piercing should be removed immediately and get proper treatment.

Hope it was of help!
