What Causes Swelling And Restricted Movements In Knuckle After An Injury?

I cut my middle knuckle on my middle finger with a serrated knife 6 days ago. Although it bled a great deal, the cut was clean and it closed up nicely. I kept it covered for the first three days and then left it uncovered. The cut is healing nicely. I had a great deal of swelling from the middle knuckle to the joint in my hand that finally went away after Day 4 but it is now starting to swell again and turn purple right where I cut it. I still can t make a right fist with that hand and touching the finger is sensitive. Please advise if this is normal. Thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC. Going by your query it seems in normal process of healing.Nothing to worry about it. Be-complex and vitamin c can promote healing.Keep hand in elevated position to reduce swelling(don't keep it dependent). I think my answer will be helpful to you.
