What Causes Swelling And Peeling Skin On Labia Majora?

I recently started menstruating again. I had a son last year, had been breastfeeding, I am beginning to wein him off, so I am guessing that is why my periods came back. During my menstruation period, My labia majora became very inflamed. It was swollen and very uncomfortable. It has been a couple of days now, my period is gone, my inflammation has gone down, but now my labia majora is peeling. Could it have something to do with the swelling? This is all very odd & very different. This has never happened to me before. Any suggestions?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The swelling and peeling of skin indicates presence of infection which is very common in women in your situation.

I would advise you to visit your gynecologist for physical examination of the area and necessary treatment that is safe for you and the baby. In addition, I would advise not touching the area a lot.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
