What Causes Swelling And Numbness In Ankle Along With Severe Pain?

I was playing basketball and running along, when my foot folded in and I heard a crack and grinding sound! I fell to the floor and couldn t feel my ankle as it was numb and aching but felt very heavy. Can t walk on it and it s swollen! About 3 hours After this I had a bath it loosened up but it s gone tender and tight and I can t put pressure on it at all. What have I done?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling and numbness in ankle along with severe pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , hypertension , vitamin B12 deficiency , kidney disease or venous insufficiency . There can be other problems also like compressed nerve or injury. Keep your legs in hot water tub with Epsom salt for 15 minutes daily , lower your salt consumption and keep your legs elevated while lying down .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray along with blood test and nerve conduction test . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist ,who may prescribe frusemide , betablockers along with anti inflammatory .
