What Causes Swelling And Bruising Along With Constant Pain In Toe?
my wife has developed a sudden and continuing pain in the 2nd joint of her 2nd toe on her right foot. there is some redness and swelling. there was no apparent cause. she had been standing in line for some time just prior. when she came home her feet were hot and she put on sandals then the pain started.
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM. There are a couple of different commonly seen issues with redness and swelling in a toe. These would include gout or infection. Gout usually occurs in the big toe joint, but can happen in the lesser toes. Infection can be a reason for this as well, but is usually associated with an open sore or nail issue. In either case, I would recommend a visit to an office to have it assessed as the treatment would vary greatly. If it is gout, then powerful anti-inflammatories can be prescribed, or in the case of infection, antibiotics. I hope this answered your question. If you have any further questions, I am here to help. Thanks.
