What Causes Swelling Along With Dark Bruise And Headache After A Head Injury?

Our 21 year old healthy son,had an accident where a limb ricocheted back and hit him in the temple....immediate goose egg, seeing black spots, clammy...took him in the house, applied ice...gave him a pain pill for by he massive headache...kept him awake for a few hours....all seemed ok....trouble waking him the next morning, went to work(fiber optic technician).called for me to bring him more Tylenol..bad headache...came home from work that afternoon, ears ringing, nose pouring clear fluid, mild sore throat..dizzy..took him for ft scan...only confirmed a concussion..yesterday broke out with a fever, cough, nasal congestion, ears popping, sore throat and small, pea shaped bumps on his neck..could these symptoms be related or 2 different issues going on? The bumps are flesh colored, no redness, no itching

Hi there.

There could be scalp haematoma and also possible upper respiratory tract infection or Allergic rhinitis. Get it looked at by an ENT Doctor to rule out leak of CSF or brain fluid through the nose. Do steam inhalation. Keep well hydrated. Eat healthy.
