What Causes Sweet Smelling Sweat?
Why does my sweat sometimes appear to have a vague sweet smelling depth to it?This appears to be most prevalent in conditions of extreme exertion, or in areas where copious sweating is encouraged by the environment (subtropical areas/ areas with high humidity).

Lactic acidosis could be the cause since you say it is normally related to extreme exertion/exercise.
I would advise you to get tested for diabetes, thyroid disorders. Other investigations pertaining to renal function test and electrolyte levels.
