Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I read your question carefully and understand your concern.
His symptoms may be related to anxiety or
orthostatic hypotension.
Have you checked his blood pressure during standing up position?
I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG and some blood lab tests :
-
complete blood count (chronic anemia or inflammation)
- PCR, sedimentation rate (inflammation)
- cortisol plasma levels (adrenal gland function)
- kidney and liver function tests
- fasting glucose
- blood electrolytes.
A head up tilt tests is necessary to rule in/out possible orthostatic intolerance (and orthostatic hypotension).
If all these tests result normal, there is nothing to worry about and anxiety should be taken into consideration.
Regarding his blood
lipid profile, his total cholesterol/HDL ratio is really high, which imposes to a high risk for cardio
vascular disease.
I agree with his doctors decision in starting medication for his cholesterol and also advise to continue with diet modifications ( avoid fat and take plenty of fish, nuts, omega 3 food, etc) and exercising (walking and
aerobics).
Hope to have been helpful!
Greeting!
Dr. Iliri
