Hello,

From the symptoms you are describing, it seems that you are suffering from stomach infection due to food poisoning. Sometimes food from restaurant, street food, homemade food that is too old or accidental mixture of some toxin with food may cause this infection. It may take up to 72 hours to develop symptoms after the infection settles in the body.

You need to complete an antibiotic course to feel better from these symptoms. I would recommend you to take Norfloxacin (Norflox) 400 mg twice a day for 5 days if you are not allergic to fluoroquinolones group of medicines. For the fever and abdominal pain, you may take the painkillers available over the counter like Acetaminophen 500 mg two times a day. If you have tendency for acidity, taking Ranitidine Hydrochloride (Zinetac) 150 mg twice a day along with antibiotic can protect you from acidity due to antibiotics. These symptoms should reduce or resolve within two days, though completing the course of antibiotic for 5 days is necessary.

Fever and fatigue are signs of infection. They will disappear when the infection will resolve. However, if you do not find any relief within 2 days, I would recommend you to visit a physician for physical examination.

Do drink lots of fluid to stay hydrated. Fruit juices and lemon water can help to feel energy and can also protect you from dehydration. Take soft diet that is easy to digest and restrict on heavy and fatty diet along with junk and outside food. Take rest.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. I wish you feel better soon. Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
