What Causes Sweating, Chills, Painful Constipation And Dizziness?

Hello, I m 57 and just finished with a lemon, honey, cayenne, turmeric fast last week. The fast was great- but I m still exhibiting bouts of weird elimination- high sweats, chills... The day after I ended the fast I was painfully constipated and relegated to drinking prune juice. It didn t help- now I felt more full & nothing was moving that was 5-6 days ago. I had a few dizzy spells and 2 days ago I actually fainted. I do have occasional (but rare) issues with low blood sugar as I eat a fairly healthy vegetarian diet. I now have distinct heaviness in my lower abdomen- my son came home to take care of me for a few days- we thought this was related to the fast- now we re not sure. I m going to a clinic tomorrow, hopefully will be able to see a doctor. Any other advice?

Hello,

You were on fasting last week and presently are constipated, are having pain abdomen, dizziness and chills / sweating. Your symptoms are indicative of dehydration, hypoglycemia, low blood pressure, acidity / gastritis, GERD, imbalance in the vitals, etc. You are suggested to take rest. Take sips of water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated. Take soups, juice or any hot beverage of your choice.

This will help you to restore your sodium-potassium and mineral imbalances and normalize your vitals. As your vitals get normal, you will start feeling better. Take laxatives to help move your bowels better. You can take antacids or PPIs to reduce your discomfort. If you are not getting relieve then you can take Spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one SOS when needed, that will help you get rid of pain.

During fasting you should be very careful as it may cause intestinal obstruction and that can become a medical emergency. While fasting take care of yourself, do not stress and exhaust yourself too much as to get sick. Since you are getting dizziness, you should get clinically examined in the ER to check that all vitals are normal. Stay away from addictions of any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
