What Causes Suicidal Ideation When Diagnosed With PTSD And Depression?

Hello. I was diagnosed with PTSD and Depression. This has escolated to the point of suicidal ideation. I am currently on a medicine called Citalopram 50mg. This was prescribed my an emergency room doctor. At that time I was evaluated by a mental health professional. The Medicine is making me shake and feel dizzy and nauseaus. I am hoping to switch medicines soon. I am also on Enbrel 50mg for ankylosing spondylitis. Is there a specific medicine that reacts well with Enbrel? It seems like ever anti-depressant i take makes me worse, angry, or shakey. I can t stop taking the enbrel. What medications could i take for ptsd that can help me sleep and calm me down?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I have read your question and I understand your concern.
I wanted to clarify that based on the studies on citalopram and Enbrel, there has been no interaction between the drugs resulting in adverse effects. So you don't have to worry about this issue.
I would recommend you to see another psychiatrist as soon as possible. You may need to add another drug, like anxiolytics, and you DEFFINITELY need to start seeing a therapist, or frequent group therapy. This has proved very helpful in cases with PTSD and Depression.
Suicidal thoughts are very common with your condition, but you have to be very careful and ask for help when you feel very tempted to attempt suicide.
I hope I have answered your question.
Wish you good health.
