Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yeah I'm 17 years old and I'm about five feet tall. I have ADHD and ODD but recently I've noticed that I've had a sudden loss in weight going from my 85 pounds to 79. As far as I know I don't have a eating disorder since I do eat on a regular basis. Can you tell me what might be going on?
I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. Well, there might be several causes causing abrupt weight loss. You need to have a thourough investigation to rule them out. Tuberculosis is one of the common causes. If you have associated cough and fever well, visit a TB centre and get investigated. You may be suffering from bowel disorders such as Inflammatory bowel disorder or Worm infestation. Malabsorption syndrome is another disorder in which the body fails to absorb any nutrients from food resulting in weight loss. Liver may also play part in weight loss but it is generally accompanied by anorexia. SInce you are saying that your eating habits are good, this can be ruled out.
I'd suggest visit a Gastroentologist and get examined and investigated to find out the cause.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt. Wishing you good health. With warm regards, Dr. Sridhar Reddy
