Alcohol provides only empty calories without any nutrients. Excessive alcohol does lead to weight gain as it slows down
metabolism of your body. Your body is unable to metabolise
carbohydrate and fats efficiently leading to unhealthy weight gain. At the same time alcohol also diminishes your body's ability to utilize nutrients such as
vitamins and minerals leading to
malnutrition. When you drink alcohol excessively, your energy intake increases considerably but your body's requirement for
B vitamins also increases simultaneously which if not met through adequate nutritious food intake, affects the way carbohydrates are utilised by the body leading to disturbed metabolism.
Being a female it is harder for your body to metabolise alcohol. It is best avoided as you are an adolescent and you need good nutritious food for your body's proper growth. Try to de
stress in a healthy way such as engaging in an activity that you enjoy be it playing games with friends, gardening or listening to good music, dancing etc.
Avoid emotional eating/binge-eating which again will affect your health and weight adversely. If you have any worries or emotional issues, confide in a good friend, parent or relative or else discuss your problems with a psychological counselor who may help you out with finding practical solutions for your problems. Remember, stress, emotional eating and alcohol are all your enemies which will affect your emotional and physical well-being adversely. So steer clear of your enemies and befriend a positive outlook and a healthy lifestyle.
