What Causes Sudden Pricking Sensation On The Bottom Of Right Thigh?

Hi, I have had this prickly, pins/needle like feeling on the bottom of my right thigh. This sensation happens at night and during the day. I have asked my doctor but he says it could be something to do with the lower spine? I would like to know if there is any type of cream/ointment to alleviate this uncomfortable feeling. It is not constant but comes on daily.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The abnormal sensation is likely due to peripheral neuropathy which refers to abnormal nerve function due to abnormal structure or function of the nerves.

The possible causes are: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes
(3)trauma
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)stroke or ms
(6)exposure to toxins
(7)infections
(8)idiopathic- cause not known

Blood tests for the liver and kidneys, checking for diabetes and vitamin levels , may be needed.

I hope this helps
