What Causes Sudden Panic Attacks At Night In A Teenager?
I m having real bad panic attacks at night and some throughout the day but its an everyday thing. I m only 18 and its coming with shortness of breathe and I ve already went to the ER and they put me on 25mg of vistaril and it isn t helping. My pulse stays around 97 and that s fast for my resting heart rate. I m so scared and I know that doesn t help but just a month ago I was fine. The veins in my neck also are very noticeable. It s like you can see them twitching or something and I cannot breathe. This accurs all day. It feels like someone is sitting on my throat
I can understand your concern. It seems that your are suffering from an anxiety disorder. If Visatril is not helping you then you may require a different group of medicine or higher dose of the same medicine under doctor's observation.
The shortness of breath and tightening of throat you are feeling is due to this anxiety disorder only so do not worry about physical health. However, trying to calm down, relaxing and taking deep breaths will help you in current situation until you consult a psychiatrist for long-term treatment. Engage yourself in something that you love to do like reading a book, listening to music, watching a comedy movie etc. Do regular exercise and try to make plans to go out with relatives or friends.
Try to get an appointment of a psychiatrist for effective continuous regular therapy to cure the disorder. I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
