Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, occasionally (once or twice a week) I get a severe headache (facial/sinuses and the top of my head) along with my teeth hurting (top/back teeth) and an intense neck ache/strain...all the muscles in my neck become like leather straps. Usually it s one side or the other. But today it s both sides. I have several metal fillings from my childhood. Could those be the cause? Or could there be something else?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sudden pain in the neck and headache . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to cervical spondolysis or bruxism . Headache can also occur due to migraine. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to neck and do light stretching exercises and try to make your self tension free and relax . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant and recommend particular type of exercises and physical therapy . Doctor may also refer you to dentist for bruxism , who may give night guard and correct the defect like misalignment of dentition .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
