What Causes Sudden Pain In The Knee?

My daughter s knee is suddenly very painful today. It s in front of the kneecap. She is already on blood thinners and just had a stem cell transplant 47 days ago. My concern is it could be another blod clot; as she has two already; both related to her ports (picc line and CVC). Can a blood clot form and hurt that quickly? She knows she didn t hit anything and hasn t been active enough to pull a muscle or tendon. It hurts when she bends it or touches it.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I have studied your case,

There is possibility of infection spreading through blood in to knee joint leading to pain.
I will advise clinical examination.
And blood investigation to confirm it ,yes it can be due to blood clot.
If still diagnosis is not confirm MRI will help in diagnosis along with ultrasound of knee.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
