What Causes Sudden Memory Loss In An Adult?

hello, my sister is getting ready to turn 31 next month. she has been experiencing memory loss for some time now. I m not sure about her, but I m getting a little worried. She is a stay at home mom of 4 children. Two of which are 2.5 year old twin boys. She doesn t take any meds. She doesn t currently have any existing issues other than her memory loss. It s short term for the most part. She can recall some things about childhood. Not much though. It s the little things. Setting a date and time to do something only two days away, and we have to call her each day to remind her. Or she won t show up. Also, if we do something together or have a conversation about something and a few days later, couple weeks, or a month even, and she doesn t recall the conversation. It s completely gone! And it could be a very important conversation. Not just like something about everyday events. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
according to your description your sister is havint short term memory loss. if she was very old then we can assume she is having dementia due to vascular problem or alzaimer disease. as she is young we have to make sure that she is not suffering from serious brain patholgy. so we have to do a contrast ct scan or MRI scan of brain to exclude it. so better to consult a neurologist , he or she will take detailed history and examination , if needed will do CT or MRI scan.
