Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I recently went to the doctor for a sore ear and she checked my blood pressure - which was very high 180/100. I have recently had a couple of very traumatic incidents at work - our building burned down and we literally had to run for our lives and one other incident. I wasn t feeling mentally stressed, but it obviously had a big impact. I have never had high blood pressure before. I am slightly overweight - but really pretty healthy. I am hoping it was a one off and will go down?
I am very sorry for your loss .plz don't get stressed about your blood pressure . I would like to inform you that in most of people raised BP has no symptoms . That is he will be absolutely fine.its for some other reason he go to doctor and on bp measurement he is found to be hypertensive..but for making diagnosis of hypertension it should be raised above 140/90 on at least 3 different occasions over a period of 1 week.home monitoring of blood pressure is better than that of hospital monitoring . But some time if bp is found to be very high as with yours a low dose of antihypertensive can be started with regular monitoring of bp to decrease or increase dose of antihypertensive . Apart for this thread are few life style modifications that are equally important such as salt and saturated fat restricted diet, Maintaining BMI less than 25 ,daily physical activity that will be 30 minutes brisk walk, diet rich in fruits and vegetables alcohol consumption in moderation.all these measures will decrease your bp.hope this will help.
