What Causes Sudden Fainting And Tremors In The Hands?

My mother is 83. She passed out this morning for no apparent reason. Her hands were jerking like she was ripping a piece of paper. She was completely incoherent. I rushed her to the er where they kept her for observation. Cat scan normal. xray normal. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.
Sorry to know about the condition.

Sudden fainting with tremors in hands can be due to low blood pressure/low blood glucose/seizure/heart disease.

I would like to ask if she is on any medication?
Medications for hypertension and diabetes may cause such symptoms.
If yes,you need to discuss the matter with your treating physician for change of doses or alternative medicines.

Certain investigations like blood haemogram ,electroencephalogram, electrocardiogram would be necessary to rule out anaemia, seizure and heart disease respectively. These conditions may cause above symptoms.
You may need to visit neurologist/cardiologist depending upon result of above investigations.

Healthy diet, intake of adequate fluids for general well are recommended.

Hope I answered your query.
wish your mother speedy recovery.
