Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sudden and sharp pain in the arm. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , injury , gout , soft tissue injury , disc problem , carpal tunnel syndrome or venous insufficiency .For now keep your arm in hot water tub with Epsom salt for 15 minutes daily and take proper rest . Also do gentle massage with almond oil and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray along with blood test and urine test and physical examination to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe diuretic along with muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with physical therapy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
