What Causes Strong Headaches Near The Temples?

I have been having these burst headaches in my left temple. Really sharp and strong like a migrane is starting but only last 30 seconds or so. Now there is a dime sized circular indentation at the exact spot the headaches are. Am I just being paranoid?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Your symptoms could be related to trigeminal neuralgia. Another diagnosis which can mimic this clinical situation is temporal arteritis.

Do you have troubles with vision during the headache? this would indicate temporal arteritis.
Does touching this area or mastication trigger your symptoms? This would be indicative of trigeminal neuralgia.
For this reason, I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- a brain MRI study
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.
Only based on the above tests, the doctor will be able to find the proper treatment for your troubles.

Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
