Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6 year old will not poop. It began shortly after my husband s divorce from his previous marraige (he is my stepson). I believe it began as behavioral, but now it s becoming something medical. The abdomen is distended but not firm. His pants are constantly poop-stained, and he smells like poop. He swears and cries that he physically cannot feel it. Isn t that some type of medical condition? Perhaps along with the behavioral? I just don t want it to turn into an impaction or obstruction.
Hello, You need to get him to a doctor right away. He may already have a partial bowel obstruction and may be leaking stool around it. You cannot assume this is behavioral (though it may be) until you rule out medical causes. Please get him to a pediatrician immediately Regards
