What Causes Stomach Pain And Nausea After Esophageal Tear Repair Surgery?

I had surgery six months ago to repair an esophageal tear caused by a scope to remove a piece of meat that was obstructing my esophagus. After several days in hospital, quite compromised physically, I was released with a heavy dose of antibiotics and prescribed Dexillant. I am a chronic asthmatic who takes 900mg of theodure daily as well as symbicort, Brianyl. Arieus and Tiazac for SVT and blood pressure issues. I was a smoker, but did quit six months ago, when this medical issue occurred. I assumed that my asthma would improve when I quit smoking, This has not been the case. I find I need my inhalers more frequently. Also I have found that I seem to be having increasing difficulty swallowing any food, even though I was told that this was not physiological concern, but rather me just not chewing properly. I am 49 years old and not ready to go on a puree diet, and am really annoyed that I am still so dependant on asthma medication when I was told smoking was the major contributor. I have now choked on food three times in the last 4 months and have forced myself to vomit repeatedly to avoid another scope procedure. I have stopped taking the dexilant and my breathing has improved. But stomach hurts constantly especially where the incisions were made. I feel sick to my stomach daily, and get dizzy sometimes. I alternate between constipation and diarrhea. Is this all psychomatic or should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Smoking and asthma is the worst combination and you already have had the effects of smoking but the good part is you have given up smoking.
Perforated esophagus can have stricture after surgery and one can not be insistent about his way of medicines or investigations.
I would advise you the following:
Upper GI endoscopy and dilatation if there is strictures.
Medical check up regularly and to continue medications as required.
Liquid diet till then.
Maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance.
