What Causes Stomach And Esophagus Pain With Belching?

I have upper GI problem. Dull pain at base of esophogus and top of stomach, excessive belching, loss of appetite. Dr. put me on Omiprazole for 2 mo. Problem resolved. Came back after eating a chocolate cake before bed. Went back on Omiprazole but stopped after 2 weeks due to feeling worse. Felt better but problem returned again a few weeks later. Ultrasound done is negative. My symptoms don't seem to fit anything I've read about on-line. Dr. now wants to do gallbaldder tests.
