What Causes Stomach Ache And Constipation In A Child?

My 6 year old daughter has been complaining of a stomach ache off and on for almost 8 weeks. She was ill with a stomach virus (along with 4 other classmates) about 2 months ago. Ever since then, she almost constantly complains of a stomach ache. I think she was constipated for awhile, and adding prune juice with her evening snack seems to have eliminated that. She tends to be a nervous child, so I think it is all in her head...BUT am I missing something big.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your daughter and understood the concerns.
After an attack of stomach flu the symptoms usually are gone.
Persistence of pain in abdomen indicate the following:
Persistence of inflammation of the intestines.
Lymph node enlargement.
This can be diagnosed by the following:
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Pediatric Surgeon.
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
Tests of stool, urine and blood.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and management.
