What Causes Stocky Deposit On The Back Of The Tongue?

After an endoscopy my husband developed a stocky deposit on the back of the tongue that continued toward the front. It looks similar to a thrush or geographic tongue. He has been using Nystatin since 5/22 and it is slowly normalizing but it still on the back of the tongue and interferes with pill-taking and smooth flow of food. Any change that this could have been the effect of the endoscopy instrument or what else? Thank you ------------ Cherie
