Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
about an hour and 1/2 ago , I felt like my jaw was getting stiff after I went to bite a banana, and after I continued, I felt my face swell up on the right side from the middle of my ear down to the bottom of my jaw line, I took half asprin and rinsed my mouth with mouth wash and it has went down a little....
It is clear indication of blocked duct of salivary gland.. The blockage can either be due to any foreign body or food particle blocking the duct opening or stone formation in the duct of the salivary gland known as a Sialolith.. You will appreciate increase swelling when you try to eat due to increased saliva flow during eating.. For now you should chew sugar free chewing gum, suck lemon drops and drink plenty of water.. At times the stone flows off with the flow of saliva.. If it doesn't resolve then you should consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and an x Ray can help in ruling bout the location of obstruction and will be removed manually if it is superficial or surgically if it is deep..
Hope this helps. Regards.
