What Causes Stiffness And Numbness Around The Ankle?

Hi, My husband has a stiff left ankle. His left leg is numb on the outside- from the bottom of the knee down to the top of the ankle. His ankle will not bend. It is hard to walk. He is walking with a drop foot. The doctor said it would be ok. What do we do? He said it was a bruised nerve????? He had a test called an EMG but the doctor saw him before the test came back. The doctor has not called with the results. It has been several weeks. We thought it would get better. The doctor said it would get better when the brusied nerve heals in some weeks or a month. Does this sound normal?

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
Peripheral nerve problem may give your husband such symptoms. However, other possible causes may as well be osteroarthritis, metabolic/ionic disorders.I will advise he hires the services of a Physiotherapist for reeducation while waiting to hear from your Doctor.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns
