Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a stiff neck but the left side of the back of my head and neck is very very tender/painful. When I bend over or try to turn it feels like where it's tender it like almost getting a cramp and I have to straiten up to make the pain stop. Is this common for a stiff neck?
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to musculo-skeletal pain. X ray of the neck/ cervical spine can be done to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.
Symptomatic relief can be obtained by application of ice, analgesic & muscle relaxant gel, intake of analgesics like Diclofenac (to be taken after food) + Pantoprazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals). Supplements of Calcium & Vitamin D can be included in your diet which will help in strengthening of bones. Physiotherapy exercise will also be helpful.
There is no need to worry, you will be fine. Till then, maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status, take proper rest and avoid stress. Wishing a Good Health. Take care.
