Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I lay down on my left side, it feels like a stabbing pain in my left rib cage area. I have not done any strenuous activity in which I would pull a muscle or hurt my ribs. Could I have a pinched nerve causing this pain? I really like sleeping on my left side, so an answer or diagnosis will be helpful!
Are you also having cough as this type of pain is usually associated with collection of fluid in the lungs. If it is there then I would suggest you to get chest x ray. If there is no cough then also a x ray is must as some time there can be just a mild injury like sudden weight lifting can also cause a hair line rib injury. If there is no fracture seen then you just need calcium and voletran ointment.
