What Causes Spreading, Red, Itchy Rashes On Face And Chest?

hi, my son have a small red spots on his forehead when he was born. we thought it was rash, but we didn t pay much attention toward it becaz it was just little red spot that doesn t show much, so we thought it was nothing. we thought it will disappear. but as he grow up the rash got redder and spread to his checks, chin, and chest. the rash would be itchy. what kind of illness is this? is it bad? we try taking him to the doctor and they only said that maybe it s due to cold weather..but the rash never disappear. if we put Medicean the rash would be dry and disappear alittle but not all. what should we do? should we take him to the doctor again?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query have symptoms of spreading, red, itchy rashes on face and chest. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like contact dermatitis , skin infection , eczema, bug bite and other medical condition. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to stop using any cosmetic product , only apply petroleum jelly , protect your skin from sun exposure , and apply broad spectrum sunscreen when in exposure to sun. Consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically , take history , order skin test for allergy and blood test. Doctor may order corticosteroid ointment , anti allergic medicine , antibiotics and may alter the dose of or prescribe substitute. Also take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl.
