Hi, I am on the pill Yasmin and have been for the last year and a half. I am experiencing spotting and have been for the last 7 days. It is very light, of a brown tinge and only evident when I wipe myself. I have changed my diet, which you could say is drastic as I cut out a lot of things incl sugar and carbohydrates for the last month. Basically on the paleo diet and have been walking for 8-9 kms a day. I don t feel pregnant and took 2 tests that came back negative - what s wrong with me?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Yasmin contains drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, which is a combined oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. Commonly reported side effects with the use of this pill are: Breast tenderness, headache, non-menstrual vaginal bleeding (spotting), irregular menstrual periods, nausea and normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier and may be lasting longer than expected. What you are experiencing spotting is the side effect caused due to the drug. Such symptoms should subside gradually and might not require any intervention. You need to seek medical attention immediately in case the side effects becomes more and intolerable. Kindly continue with what modifications you have done in your diet. Drink good quantity of fluids to keep yourself well hydrated. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
