What Causes Spontaneous Urinary Incontinence When On Medication For High BP?

I have recently been experiencing spontaneous urinary incontinence when flying after a 3 hour flight. I am taking high blood pressure meds (25mg atenolol and 160mg diovan) once a day. It appears as though my my heart rate increases when this occurs.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Extreme stress leading to sympathetic system over-activity could be the cause of urinary incontinence at present.
2. It is not due to blood pressure medications. Even though blood pressure can vary due to flying, it does not affect bladder function.
3. You need to reduce stress. Excess sympathetic activation can also lead to increased heart rate, and this appears to have caused urinary incontinence. Avoid excess fluids during this flight, particularly alcohol or caffeine based. Relax. Not to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
