What Causes Soreness Of Tongue And Swollen Neck?

Hi, my tongue has been sore ..almost a raw feeling on and off for several weeks now. I feel like maybe my neck is a little swollen just under my jaw. It doesn't hurt to swallow but it is uncomfortable. I do have allergies and have a stuffie nose almost everyday. Could I have a virus or something worse?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain soreness and raw feeling over tongue can be due to Glossitis and along with it swollen glands under the tongue and stuffed nose can be due to allergies while can also be due to sinus infection or sinusitis...
Raw feeling of tongue can be due to infection caused due to post nasal drip secondary to infection while can also be a result of allergies causing inflammation of the mucosal surfaces..
For confirmation of the exact cause you need to get investigated and consult an Oral Physician or an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a throat swab culture allergic tests and PNS view x ray of sinuses to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat you accordingly..
As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation and raw feeling.
You can do warm saline gargles.
Do cool water rinses.
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
You can also take Vitamin B-complex tablet daily..
Avoid spicy and hard foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
