What Causes Sore Throat, low Fever With Cough?

I started out with a very bad sore throat and low grade fever a week and a half ago that wasn't strep. Was started on Prednisone for inflammation in my chest, throat, and nasal passages. Then started with a cough that progressively got worse. Cough has been really bad for 4 days. Started Augmentin on Monday and have a had a funny fuzzy feeling in my head since yesterday. Is this the flu or bronchitis and should I call the dr back?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
The sore throat lasted for more than a week & producing inflammation in chest ,indicate it to be of bacterial in origin .
This condition demands antibiotics, anti allergics, pain killers/anti inflammatory combination & cough syrup if needful. The antibiotics will be advised by your doctor after needful investigations ( CBC,Sputum culture,Xray chest)for good out come. Please call back your doctor.
Thanks
