Hello. My adult son has a sore throat and hurting sinuses they feel dry and sore. This has been going on for almost 3 weeks. went through the sneezing and runny nose about 1 week and a half ago but is still having the sore throat and hurting sinuses. Took vitamin C and ibuprofen but still feeling bad. What should he take for it? Could it be a sinus infection? What can he do to feel better?
he must be suffering from allergic rhinosinusitis and tonsillopharyngitis. first of all start him with warm saline gargles and steam inhalation. start with topical xylometazoline nose drops which will relieve his congestion. avoid dusty and smoky environment.keep him away from trees, animals, kitchen fumes and all the food items that he is allergic to.avoid chilled and freezed food items.ask to wear mask while going out and also daily change his bedsheets and pillow covers. secondly he needs a course of antibiotics (amoxyclav) and antiallergic t/t (monteleukast +levocetrizine).don't worry he will be fine. later you can just go for an x ray PNS to see the extent of sinusitis.
