General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the description, it appears that you could be having infection of the larynx (voice box) called 'laryngitis'.
Kindly do the following to overcome the symptoms.
1. Do salt water gargling twice daily.
2. Take a course of oral antibiotics like Azithromycin once a day for 3 days.
3. Use medicated lozenges for throat soothening.
4. Take steam inhalation regularly, which will help to keep the sinus and air passages open.
5. Take decongestant medication in the form of syrup which contains chlorpheniramine maleate, phenylephrine, menthol and guaifenesin.
6. Avoid consumption of cold items like cool drinks and ice-creams.
7. Do not stain your voice and give adequate rest to vocal cords.
Gradually, you should be able to overcome such problems.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best and wish you good health.
Regards,
