What Causes Sore Pimples In Scalp?

I have very sore pimples on my scalp at the base of my head and for the past month they have been oozing this crusty puss. I have tried medicated shampoo for psoriasis with no results. It just comes right back. What is this and obviously I should go to a dermitologist - right?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain sore pimples on the scalp along with oozing crusty pus can be due to causes like Hair follicle infection or folliculitis, Impetigo etc..

I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scraping from the scalp, blood tests, fluid culture etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised to apply an antibiotic ointment over the scalp..
You can apply steroid lotion ..
A sort course of oral antibiotics can also be advised..
Keep the scalp clean and wash every alternate day with a mild shampoo..
Avoid scratching the scalp as it can increase the spread of infection..
You should also avoid moisture accumulation in the scalp as it acts as a medium for growth of microbes that cause infection..
