What Causes Small Itchy Dots On The Stomach , Neck And Back?

My daughter, 17, has some small dots and lesions on stomach, neck and back that are itchy. They appeared out of nowhere. She s already had chickenpox. One of the ones on her back looks like a hive. The ones on her neck look like scratches but they are raised. Her stomach has small, almost like pimples, marks. Was planning on bringing her to doctors tomorrow. It started with the hive looking one on her back. At first I thought it was a bug bite (spider?), but now they re spreading. Any thoughts? No change in laundry detergent or food/diet.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for scabs on the face.

After analyzing query I can make out a diagnosis of Pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is a viral rash which is a self-limiting disease. It affects mainly children and young adults as in your daughter’s case. It is characterized by a distinctive skin eruption and minimal constitutional symptoms.

It is a sharply defined, reddish to pink round or oval plaque, soon covered by fine scale. General eruption begins to appear in crops at 2 to 3-day intervals over a week or 10 days and is typically seen in cold weather which can stay for 2-6 weeks and then subsides by itself.

I suggest my patient to relax and not to be worried for these lesions. I suggest them to apply hydrocortisone or higher cream at the affected area.

You can meet a dermatologist for best guidance.
Take care.
