What Causes Small Amount Of Blood In Urine?

My husband is 61 and just passed his yearly physical with flying colors, except the nurse told him that they found a very small amount of microscopic blood in his urine and that the doctor wasn't concerned but wants him to repeat the urine test in 2 weeks. What could this be?

Hi.
Any amount of blood in urine needs thorough evaluation with repeat urine routine and culture and Ultrasound KUB. Urine cytology and urine Cystourehtroscopy may also be required if suspicious of malignancy.
Blood in urine at this age may be due to malignancy in bladder or kidney. This must be ruled out by above tests. But single episode of microscopic hematuria may be due to stone disease or heavy work or decreased intake of fluids or urinary tract infection.
So if above tests r normal, u don't have to worry. But then these must be done.
