What Causes Sleeplessness After Using Nexito 10mg?

My wife is suffering from High B.P. 100 / 170 and having low hemoglobin 8.3. She has been prescribed with medicines for B.P & iron .She has been given Nexito 10 tab before dinner. Night she having sleep for sometime then suffering from sleeplessness. Should we continue this . Is this has an effect on controlling the B.P Regards , G.C.Banerjee

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Nexito 10 is Escitalopram and the drug is a SSRI drug. The drug is a commonly used anti anxiety and anti depressant drug. The drug usually cause slight insomnia in some patients taking it, but in others it may cause drowsiness and this may result in sleepiness. The drug has not much effect on BP and the drug cant be used in hypertension. If her BP is persistently in higher range then visit her doctor again and take treatment for hypertension.
