What Causes Sleep Apnea , Chronic Nasal Pharyngitis And GERD?
I am a banker by profession and a 51 year old male. I have been taking sleeping tablets for last twenty eight years. I have chronic nasal pharyngitis and also diagnosed with sleep apnea. I Am a smoker for last thirty yeArs. With chronic insomnia and sleep apnea I have following additional problems. I Tried using the CPAP machine several times but it didn't work for me And I couldn't get used to it on any kind of mask. I take care of my diet and avoid red meats and fatty foods. also I avoid sugar due to diabetes.
Recurring respiratory infections Constipation all the time Inflammation of tonsillitis Elongated uvula DNS Inflammation of sinus membranes Shallow breathing or shortness of breath My blood oxygen rates at 75 percent during sleep which is low due to sleep apneA I have a GERD problem as well which I control with Omeprazole daily
Additionally I have diabetes type 2 and take metamorphic daily 1000 mg Long with medicine for lowering Blood pressure Too. I also have to take daily Antihistamines to control my sneezing Nd acute allergy problem.
My height is 5' 7" and weight is 162 pounds
I do daily gym for thirty minutes and walk briskly quite a bit.
Please advise me if firstly I can have my tonsils removed at this age? Also what to do with my stuffy nose as I cant breathe. Even my throat is congested with too much mass and mucus all the time specially in morning I have a very phlegmatic mouth.
secondly how to get off the sleep tablets? How to treat sleep apnea? I sleep with raised pillows but they don't work alwAys.

Hi Mohammad, you seem to have many problems like Diabetes, Hypertension, allergy, DNS, Sleep Apnoea, allergic cough. You are an ideal candidate for Lifestyle modification. Go on a green diet--5 cooked vegetables, 5 salad vegetables, 5 sprouts, 5 non sweet fruits, brown rice, whole wheat, all dals, skimmed milk, buttermilk. Eat less, four times a day. last meal by 7.30 PM. No garlic, onions, radish, coffee, tea, colas and chocolate. Brisk walk up a slope at least an hour. Tie a ball to your back so that you remain on your side to prevent apnoea., do breathing exercises, stop smoking and you can have a tonsillectomy only if they are enlarged--regards
