hi i noticed while i was taking my pulse for my heart rate, that my heart skipped some beats. i do not have any shortness of breath or chest pains etc and wouldn't have known if i wasn't taking my pulse. I do not feel it in my chest. I am a 58 yr old male and my rate was 78. thanks
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern. Brief answer: Stress,Anxiety, electrolyte imbalance, low blood sugar, exercise, thyroid hyperactivity etc Detailed answer: In my opinion, skipping of heart beat commonly called heart hiccups usually can occur in healthy individuals due to lot of reasons without any clinical signs or symptoms. If i were your physician, would advise to take a basic 12 lead ECG to rule out any heart rhythm derangement. However, increased frequency of skipped beats/palpitations or associated clinical symptoms warrant the need for complete cardiac evaluation.Hope i have answered your query. If any questions, happy to answer you.
